In the year of 2002, Pedro Ushizima Jr., well know in the sport as Pedrosan, teamed with three friends to train in DeLand, Florida, in one of the best drop zones in the world. They were: Renato Diogo, his former team mate on the team Airmazing (3o place at the Brazilian Nationals of 1997 Ð 4 way Senior), Humberto Prado, also his former team mate on the team Boituva Express (2o place at the Brazilian Nationals of 1995 Ð 4 way beginners) and Marcos Kleinman.
Coached by the world champion John Eagle (Airspeed member), the training camp with more than 50 jumps was a success. Inspired by the desire to achieve excellence, they called the team Optimum.
Returning to Brazil, the team competed and won the 1st meet of the CTR 4 way Cup. After its fist victory, the team invited Renato Acerbi to join the team as its camera and in 2002, won the Brazilian Nationals.
In the year of 2003, Daiton Ribeiro and Andre Ferraz replaced Renato Diogo and Humberto Prado, that moved to the United States. To start the new phase of the team, Rogerio Martinati, one of the most experienced skydivers in Brazil, was invited to be its coach and the team conquered again the first place on the 1st meet of the CTR 4 way Cup. Also, the team traveled to Arizona to train.
After 100 jumps, coached by Dan BC (also a former world champion with Arizona Airspeed), Optimum conquered the 2nd meet of the CTR 4 way Cup. During training in August, Marcos Kleinmann had an accident and had to step aside to recover from a leg injury. The team invited Ziara Abud to replace him.
With the new configurations, the team obtained the first place on the 3rd meet of the CTR Cup and the 2nd place on the Nationals in 2003. Also, the team traveled to the United States to train in the wind tunnel.
